In Honor of

Max Martin1993–2026

Born and raised in the Tetons, Max Martin's life was a testament to a deep love for the mountains and an unwavering commitment to his community. From his early days with the Jackson Hole Ski Club to a successful career as a Division I NCAA ski racer for Plymouth State University, Max's passion for skiing was matched only by his dedication.

After college, he returned to his roots, representing Jackson Hole Mountain Resort as a professional athlete, appearing in major ski films, and founding his own training program, "Train in the Tetons."

More than his impressive athletic achievements, Max is remembered for his character. He was described by those who knew him as a "relentless force of positivity," a person who made everyone feel seen, valued, and confident. He possessed a unique ability to climb to the highest echelons of the competitive ski world without ever losing his humility or his focus on others.

Max often spoke of his own educational journey and expressed a wish that he could have pursued a top-tier education in Jackson Hole without having to sacrifice his love for skiing. This scholarship is the fulfillment of that wish.

The Rationale

Eliminating the Impossible Choice

In Jackson Hole, the cost of pursuing both a premier independent school education and competitive ski racing can be prohibitive. Tuition at JHCS, combined with the fees for JHSC training programs, travel to competitions, equipment, and coaching, places this dual path out of reach for many talented young athletes.

Max Martin understood this barrier personally. He left Jackson Hole as a teenager to attend the Rowmark Ski Academy in Salt Lake City in order to pursue his racing career — a path that required him to leave his home community.

This scholarship eliminates that impossible choice. By covering both full tuition at JHCS and the costs of competitive training and racing through JHSC, the Max Martin Memorial Scholarship ensures that a deserving student-athlete can remain rooted in the Teton community Max loved while receiving a world-class education and pursuing skiing at the highest level.
